Why Your Parish Needs the Lay Mission Project
The lay vocation is one of the most underappreciated facets of the Church’s mission today. While many parishes are good at evangelizing their involved parishioners, it is hard to enact effective outreach beyond the parish limits. In other words, we aren’t reaching the secular world. The Lay Mission Project will empower the lay Catholics in your parish to become missionaries to the secular world, as is called for in Vatican II. And they’ll likely become better parishioners, too, as it will engender greater enthusiasm for the parish community and its work. In addition, participants may pursue additional optional certification offered by the Lay Mission Project in various ecclesial ministries: lector, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, youth ministry, and parochial administration.
