Evangelization

Weaving together topics from the first two years, this course sets the groundwork for applying what has been learned to concrete areas of secular commitment. The seminar first clearly articulates the multivalent use of the term, how exactly it is to be understood in light of the kerygma of our Lord, and how it is interpersonal and missionary in nature. However, in order for the hidden energy of the gospel to be actualized, one must consider what gets in the way of it being heard in today’s milieu. After a close look at the social imaginaries of this secular age, Fr. John points out how a Gospel-illuminated imagination corrects the misconceptions promoted by these social imaginaries, and  offers witness as the primary means to evangelize persons, organizations, and society as a whole.
