What Our Members Have to Say
I was burned out in my job as a nurse in a local acute care hospital and was planning on quitting …[After] our first lessons of the Lay Vocation course, …I now viewed my 35 years of experience as a nurse and leader as an opportunity to use my competence in the secular world to practice my faith and give hope and encouragement to my co-workers and patients at the hospital. Because of the Lay Mission Project Formation, I changed my approach to work, and in the end, I retired having experienced the most satisfying and fulfilling last months in the workplace practicing my vocation of mercy as a nurse.
The depth of knowledge evident in all of the project contributors is stunning…The Lay Mission Project helped me understand how deep are the roots of the catechism in scripture, tradition, and natural moral law. This was extremely faith-affirming and encouraged me even more to want to share this wonderful Catholic life with others.
The Lay Mission Project is a catalyst into deeper learning and growth in my faith and knowledge. I find the instructional sessions so ‘eye opening’ and informational. I am doing my best to use the information I am learning. For example, I gave a lesson to the RCIA group last weekend on ‘The Role of the Laity.’ The feedback was great. Many mentioned how the ‘theology and doctrine’ teachings were good, but this topic on the laity was so relevant and applicable. They felt enlightened and empowered. Yes!
